Goods for All!

Hello, Everyone,

As you all know by now, I am lucky enough to be going back to Mozambique for three months this summer.  I would love to be able to provide support for the school and the students, too. I am hoping to arrange for scholarships for students who wish to enter the vocational school and the teacher training college. The scholarships would be for the students who couldn’t afford to go otherwise.  A two and a half year course (including a one year internship) costs between $250 and $300 USD (including school supplies and uniform, etc.)

To make this a little more fun than me just asking you for a boring old donation, I’d like to offer you something in return.  African clothing, gorgeous African print sarongs, jewelry made from seeds, wood, or coconut shell, straw bags and change purses, wooden carvings and bowls, and authentic batiques. Beautiful, unique, and affordable!

Here’s the deal. Buy hot African items at low American prices, employ and empower African tailors and tradesmen/women to make goods at fair trade prices, and all the money in between goes into a scholarship fund.

My website has several photos of what is (more or less) available. They appear below this letter.

One of the biggest ways we can affect the world around us these days is through our buying power – and this means smart, socially aware consumption can bring positive change.

If you’d like to make a donation for some of these items, or make a flat donation without receiving any African goods, you can send a check my way or even use pay-pal (a link is provided on the website, too)!

I will be leaving Philadelphia on May 13th. So, please do act quickly!

You can send your donation to:

Of course, you can feel free to call (215-806-9003) or email with any questions.

Point is:
donations = good
gifts for you = even better!

Please keep in mind that the photos are just samples – each item is uniqueand availability fluctuates, so what you would receive might be a little different.  You can also special order clothes in whatever style you want, and whatever size - this stuff looks adorable on kids and babies, too...

As for donations, I am also hoping to bring laptops and old cell phones, so please let me know if you have any to donate!

Much love and Happiness!
Caitlyn
